WHO I AM

My name is Jake Taylor. I was born on August 1, 1983, in Rochester, Minnesota. For most of my life, I was defined by one thing: hockey.

From high school at Rochester Lourdes, to the Green Bay Gamblers, to the University of Minnesota, and eventually the AHL—I chased the dream every young athlete worships.

Hockey gave me discipline, grit, and brotherhood. It taught me how to wake up and pursue something with relentless focus. I never made it to the NHL, but the pursuit itself was sacred. It shaped me into a man—or at least, I thought it did.

But underneath the jersey, the game, the applause—I was lost.

My self-worth was tied to performance. I was owned by fear, ego, and pride. When the game ended at 28, so did my identity. I was adrift. Numb. Empty.

Until May 17, 2017.

That’s the day Jesus Christ met me in my brokenness and I heard His voice for the first time say,

“Surrender and I will save you!”

That moment changed everything. It wasn’t just a spiritual awakening—it was a complete surrender. I began to walk as a man of God, rooted not in applause, but in purpose.

WHERE STRAPPED STARTED

Two years later, in 2019, STRAPPED was born—not in a boardroom, but on the streets and paths of southern Minnesota.

My cousin and I decided to run the Twin Cities Marathon with 20-pound weight vests strapped to our backs. We weren’t chasing a time. We were confronting a burden—carrying the weight every man knows but rarely talks about.

That vest symbolized shame, fear, sin, regret, and the false pursuit of comfort.

We didn’t run from the weight—we ran with it.

And in that shared suffering, a fire was lit.

STRAPPED became a daily reminder:

  • You don’t drift into discipline.
  • You strap in.
  • You lean into resistance.
  • You fight for what matters—not once, but every day.

This isn’t about my transformation. It’s about the choice every man faces:

To carry what God has called him to carry—with surrender, strength, and courage.

WHAT STRAPPED IS

It’s a brotherhood for men who are reborn and building their life on the foundation of Jesus Christ.

  • For men who once chased greatness—and now realize they’re in a new arena.
  • With a new mission.
  • And the only identity that matters: Men of God.
  • Men who are done being passive.
  • Who don’t need the spotlight to lead.
  • Who reject comfort and crave conviction.
  • We’re not influencers.
  • We’re not self-help gurus.
  • We are protectors, providers, and servant leaders

What Never Die Easy Means:

NEVER DIE EASY isn’t just a tagline—it’s a way of life. It means you don’t quit when it hurts. You don’t back down when it’s hard. You carry your cross with courage, fight with conviction, and finish the race with nothing left. You stay rooted in Jesus, and you glorify Him with every breath, every battle, every step. Because a man surrendered to Christ never dies easy—he rises.

WHY I STARTED THIS

Not because I have the answers—
But because I need it.

I need a brotherhood that doesn’t flinch when things get real.

I need men who carry scars and are becoming more. Who knew the Word. Who walked through pain with purpose.

I started STRAPPED to build the team I wished had been there after the final whistle. To become the man God has called me to be.

And I know I’m not the only one.

STRAPPED isn’t about me. It’s about us.

About a generation of men who are done playing small. Done watching from the sidelines. Willing to go all-in for Jesus and relentlessly train to reach their God-given potential.

WHO THIS IS FOR

This is for the drifting disciple:
